The Volkswagen Ameo Cup has now been recognized as a ‘National Championship’ and will be run as a separate class under the MRF MMSC FMSCI National Championship 2019. Nine new drivers will battle it out along with nine experienced drivers from the previous season at the Kari Motor Speedway in Coimbatore this weekend.
The selected drivers were put through a rigorous two-day fitness camp at Pune’s Multifit to prepare them for a heated season of racing. The two-day camp witnessed the drivers undergoing multiple sessions on workouts, posture correction, diet, and nutrition. The training sessions were designed to enhance the performance of drivers with prehab and rehab training.
Once the physical fitness training was completed, it was time for the Driver coaches Rayomond Banajee and Karthik Tharani to conduct several training sessions on the fundamentals of racing. Racing lines to be used at the track, braking drills and competing. These sessions gave the drivers a fair amount of track time and helped them get accustomed to their race cars and racing techniques.
Qualifying sessions begin this Saturday, June 22 along with the first few races. Stay tuned for yet another exciting race weekend!
