All new Toyota Corolla unveiled for the European markets

Toyota has unveiled the 12th generation of the Corolla for the European markets. The new car adopts the company’s Toyota New Global Architecture(TNGA) and expands the company’s hybrid engine lineup. Though there is no official word on the India launch, we expect the Corolla to enter our market later this year or in the first half of 2020. The car will take on the likes of the newly launched Honda Civic, Skoda Octavia and the Hyundai Elantra when does get here.

Powertrain of the Toyota Corolla

Powering the Corolla is Toyota’s fourth-generation 1.8-litre hybrid engine churning 120bhp and 142Nm. The electric motor further pushes the power by 71.07bhp and 163Nm. For the first time, Toyota is offering two powertrains, and the more powerful 2.0-litre engine delivers 177bhp and 190Nm with the electric motor adding 107bhp and 202Nm of torque.

Corolla’s Exterior and Electronics

Visually, the Corolla has a wide, low stance for a lower center of gravity and athletic stance. Compared to the previous model, the length is increased by 10mm and has a 2,700mm wheelbase. Electronic aids include and upgraded pre-collision system, adaptive cruise control, lane departure alert, road sign assist, and automatic high beam. The company is offering these as standard.

The interiors of the Corolla

The car gets all new interiors with slimmer dashboard and a wider, higher center console along with a range of new switchgear and instrumentation. For a better driving posture and comfort, the sedan features a revised seat design. The interiors flaunt high-quality trim finishes like satin chrome plating and paint, piano-black inserts, and optional synthetic and genuine leather and stitching.
