Cheaper variant of Creta auto launched

Hyundai India has launched S+ automatic variant for the diesel Creta. Priced at Rs 14.23 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai), it is cheaper by Rs 98,000 than the top-of-the-line SX+ auto variant.

The S+ variant does not get several features such as push start/stop button, chrome garnish on door handles/grille and smoked alloys. It also gets smaller 16-inch wheels while the SX+ gets 17-inch ones. Standard features include dual airbags, ABS+EBD, reverse camera and a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

The Creta S+ is powered by a 1.6-litre CRDi engine that churns out 126bhp and 260Nm and is mated to a 6-speed automatic torque convertor based transmission.

Recently, Mahindra had launched a cheaper W6 AT variant of the XUV500 to undercut Creta’s pricing. Hyundai is making a strong move with the launch of the S+ variant of its already popular Creta, which is now cheaper than the XUV500 W6 AT by Rs 6000. Renault Duster RXL is still the cheapest of all though, at Rs 12.28 lakh.
