Ducati Multistrada 1200 Pikes Peak version launched in India

Pikes Peak, also known as ‘The Race to the Clouds’ is no joke. The annual hillclimb event is a 20kms, now fully paved highway in the rocky mountains of North America, gaining a height from 4720ft to 14,110ft till the summit of the mountain, having engines lose power due to higher altitudes. It entails a set of 156 breathtaking turns, including hairpin bends and blind turns, with uncertain weather conditions from start to finish. And it is better now. Earlier the hillclimb entailed a mix of tarmac and gravel (more of the latter) making it even more hostile. And the Ducati Multistrada thrived in these conditions. The ADV made for a formidable competitor, racking up six wins over the decade. And what better way to celebrate the feat by introducing a Pikes Peak edition Multistrada.

Well. The Multistrada ‘Pikes Peak’ edition was sold overseas and out of reach of potential Asian Ducatistas, especially India. That changes now. Now you can head down to your closest Ducati Showroom, put down Rs 20 lakh and ride out in a spanking new ‘Pikes Peak’ liveried Multistrada 1200.

Heavily inspired from the Ducati Multistrada 1200 S, the 2016 Ducati Multistrada 1200 Pikes Peak version is laden with high performance specifications and is priced at Rs.20,06,000 (ex-showroom Delhi). This edition of the Ducati Multistrada also celebrates the current course record.

The new Multistrada 1200 Pikes Peak version shares the same 1198cc Ducati Testastretta DVT 11° L-twin, liquid cooled engine equipped with Desmodromic Variable Timing, which delivers  160 bhp @ 9500rpm and 135.5Nm @ 7500rpm, as the Multistrada 1200 S. It also comes with a host of features like cornering lights on the full-LED headlight, carbon fibre bits, Termignoni end can, fully adjustable Öhlins fork, TTX36 rear shock, cornering ABS, Ducati Wheelie Control, Ducati Traction Control and Cruise Control.

On the occasion, Ravi Avalur, Managing Director, Ducati India said: “With its race inspired looks and cutting edge technology, the Pikes Peak is in a league of its own and we’re sure enthusiasts will appreciate this version of the Multistrada.”

The Ducati Multistrada 1200 will be available across all Ducati dealerships Delhi, Gurgaon, Mumbai, Pune and Bengaluru.
