EICMA 2016: Honda unveils the CRF250L Rally

Another manufacturer to add to the growing list of adventure bikes at EICMA this year is Honda. The Japanese manufacturer unveiled its latest adventure tourer, the CRF250L Rally. The bike is built using the CRF250L platform but shares the DNA with its bigger sibling, the CRF450 Rally.

Powered by a 250cc liquid-cooled, single cylinder DOHC engine, it produces 24.4bhp and 22.6Nm of torque. Honda also announced that the standard CRF250L for 2017 will have upgraded parts like the new throttle body, a new airbox and lightweight exhaust.

The CRF250L Rally looks the part with a floating windshield, radiator shrouds, hand guards and mainly an asymmetrical LED headlight unit. A larger 10.1litre fuel tank and a new digital dash which has a fuel gauge and a tachometer are provided on the bike. On the safety front, it receives a dual-channel ABS, which will allow the rider to switch off the ABS of the rear wheel. The seat of the bike has been raised from 875mm to 895mm, and the ground clearance has been increased by 15mm thanks to the long-travel suspension which increases its off-road capabilities.

India has just recently developed a liking for adventure tourers after the launch of the Royal Enfield Himalayan. We could see this segment opening up with other manufacturers stepping into it and the CRF250L Rally fits just perfectly here to challenge the Himalayan.
