Maruti Suzuki to launch exclusive True Value used car dealerships

In a bid to attract first time car buyers, upgrading from a two-wheeler, Maruti Suzuki is revamping its True Value used car business model. Until now, the True Value outlets have been integrated with the new car dealerships, but now, dedicated used car showrooms will be setup by the company to provide more peace of mind.

The brand new stand alone outlets will focus on providing car buyers the experience of buying a new car. The dealerships will have modern aesthetics combined with friendly service executives, with lots of digitalisation. Customers will also be able to select and shortlist cars using True Value website/app (to be available on both iOS and Android) and test drive the car at the dealership. The used cars sold at True Value will go through 376 checks, including accident history and servicing details. Based on the condition of the car, a rating (1-5 star) will be allotted and displayed on the website as well. All the certified cars will be offered with 1-year/1 lakh kilometre warranty. Three free service coupons will also be provided to the buyer. True Value outlets will not sell cars that are more than 7 years old/over 1 lakh km. There will also be an accessory store in the outlet for customers to customise their car. And finally, there will be a delivery bay, again, to provide a ‘new car’ buying experience.

Maruti Suzuki expects to have 150 outlets across the country by March 2018 and the figure is expected to double by 2020. The used car market in the country is larger than the new car market by 20 per cent. Of the 3.5 lakh used cars sold by Maruti Suzuki, 22 per cent were certified. The number has doubled in a span of 12 months. The carmaker expects to capitalise on the potential and retain the customer by providing him the best experience, which would eventually lead to a new car sale in the future
