Mercedes-Benz launch C 43 AMG for Rs 74.35 lakh

Mercedes-Benz has added yet another car to their AMG performance line up with the launch of the C 43 today. The Mercedes-AMG C 43 is priced at Rs 74.53 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and slots itself comfortably between the regular C-Class and the full-fat C 63 AMG.

There’s plenty of stuff differentiating it from the C 63. Firstly, there’s the engine. The C 43 is powered by a twin-turbo V6 engine, and makes 362bhp of power and 520Nm of torque. Where the C 63 gets a 7-speed ‘box, the C 43 gets a 9-speed automatic. Keeping with its performance credentials, you get a sports exhaust, adjustable dampers, different driving modes and the option to switch ESP off. The driving modes adjust both steering and throttle sensitivity, as well as quicken the gearshifts. Interestingly, the C 43 also gets 4MATIC, Mercedes-Benz’s AWD system. This is only the second sedan in Merc’s India portfolio to be equipped with all-wheel drive, the CLA 45 AMG being the first.

Visually, C 43 is more toned down from the C 63. It doesn’t have the flared wheel arches or power bulge on the bonnet like the V8 car does. Neither does it have the aggressive bumpers. Styling is more in tune with the regular C250 d, with the diamond grille as an addition. The other exterior addition is the rear spoiler lip. On the inside though, you get red seat belts, red stitching on the seats and steering wheel, a sports steering wheel and an experience more in tune with the AMG brand.

The C 43 AMG is the 13th launch for Mercedes-Benz in India this year, and the 3rd AMG model. The car’s only direct rival in the Indian market at the moment is the Audi S5.
