Scorpio 1.99-litre gets Intelli-Hybrid tech

Mahindra has brought in a sub 2-litre variant of the Scorpio with the Intelli-Hybrid feature at a price of Rs 9.35 lakh, especially for Delhi & NCR customers. It translates to a concession of 5 per cent on VAT, which equates to a discount, ranging between Rs 60-90,000, depending on the variant.

The Intelli-Hybrid technology was introduced in the 2.2-litre variant, back in July. The system uses electric power to assist acceleration and also switches off the engine if the vehicle is stationary for more than three seconds. Brake energy regeneration system is also incorporated, which recharges the battery during braking. Mahindra claims that the Intelli-Hybrid system makes the Scorpio more fuel efficient by 7 per cent.

Speaking at the launch, Pravin Shah, President & Chief Executive (Automotive), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. said, “Intelli-Hybrid demonstrates our commitment to making modern technology more accessible to a wider audience. As an organisation that puts keen emphasis on sustainability and eco-friendly practices, across every process and product, we are delighted to introduce mild-hybrid technology on the Scorpio. By reducing fuel consumption, Intelli-Hybrid helps Scorpio owners contribute towards a cleaner and greener Delhi and NCR”.

The Scorpio is powered by a CRDe 1.99-litre mHawk engine that makes 120bhp of power and 280Nm of torque. Features include static cornering lamps, LED parking lights, 6-inch touchscreen infotainment system with GPS, climate control and 17-inch alloys.

The 1.99-litre Scorpio with Intelli-Hybrid variant is available in seven variants – S4, S4+, S4+ AWD, S6+, S8, S10 and S10 AWD.
