Tata Tigor AMT launched

Words by Shubham Choukse

After seven months of its debut, the Tata Tigor finally gets an AMT option. Available only with the petrol motor, the AMT is offered in the XTA variant at a price of Rs 5.75 lakh and in the XZA variant at the price of Rs 6.22 lakh, all prices ex-showroom, Delhi. Adding to the convenience of the AMT is the new ‘creep’ feature, which enables the car to crawl as soon as the brake pedal is released, without pressing the accelerator. Besides making slow traffic manoeuvres easy the creep feature also prevents the car from rolling back when it starts from an inclined position.

“Given the current traffic scenario and growing driver fatigue levels, an AMT is the perfect solution to bringing back the joy of driving in a city, without compromising on fuel efficiency. Keeping with the trend of this growing segment, we introduced the AMT variants of the hatchback Tiago, which has so far received a tremendous response. Now, with the Tigor AMT, we continue to reach out to our customers with stylish and feature loaded products that offer best-in-class technology and design engineering,” said Vivek Srivatsa, head of marketing, PVBU, Tata Motors.

The Tigor has been doing fairly well in the Indian market and the addition of an AMT makes it the cheapest sedan in India with an automatic transmission, it goes up against the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Dzire AMT, Honda Amaze CVT and Ford Aspire Automatic.
