F1 2016: Mercedes W07 Silver Arrow revealed

Team Evo India

Now we all saw Mercedes’s upcoming W07 design, when they did their ‘promotional’ day at Silverstone just ahead of testing. Very well played though as both team drivers got a chance to drive at least a 100 kms between them, giving them that much needed edge over the Rosso brigade. Although, Mercedes have yet to reveal certain aspects of the W07, including the very crucial nose design, there are some notable difference between the W07 and the 06. Interestingly, the nose shown on the outgoing car is thoroughly different from the nose on the car that we saw running at Silverstone and looks a lot like the W06 from last year. The engine cover is a little larger, accounting for the additional exhaust and the larger air box. The outlets on the side pod have been made smaller which probably sheds lights on how efficient the new car’s cooling system is. Concurrently, the rear undercut is now much more pronounced to maximise airflow. The twin waste gate trend seems to continue and seems to echo what we saw with William, Ferrari and Mclaren.
