Auto Expo 2016: Mahindra XUV Aero teaser sketch revealed

Team Evo India

Mahindra is reinventing itself. The traditional SUV styling only offers a certain number of segments for Mahindra and so, steadily with products like the TUV300 and the KUV100, the SUV maker is venturing into new segments. Now Mahindra has released a teaser of what could be the sportiest vehicle from the company’s stables. The sketch reveals a coupé-SUV that goes by the name of XUV Aero.

The sketch clearly points at a silhouette much like that seen on the BMW X6 and Mercedes GLE, but this will be the first such offering from an Indian manufacturer at a much more affordable price. Mahindra will reveal the XUV Aero coupé-SUV at Auto Expo 2016 on February 3.

The XUV Aero in profile shows the XUV500’s lines, including the flared up wheel arches and the kink in the window line under the C-pillar. What’s noticeably different is the sloping roofline that gives it its sportier stance and the rather elaborate rear diffuser that in all probability won’t make it to the production version. The XUV Aero gets high set horizontal taillights and a muscular bumper giving it a distinct identity. Expect the front to sport similar styling cues to the XUV500.

Engine options should include the newly introduced 1.99-litre diesel engine mated to Mahindra’s manual and automatic gearboxes and could also feature larger capacity units of the mFalcon range of engines. Mahindra will showcase its new generation infotainment and connectivity system at the expo as well, that is likely to go into its premium offerings.
