BMW 5 Series petrol variant launched

BMW has been bringing back its petrol engined cars, after the much hyped diesel ban rumours in the country. After the 320i, which was relaunched recently, the 5 Series has now been introduced to the petrol power train.

At a price tag of Rs 54 lakh, the 520i will be be offered in the top-of-the-line Luxury Line variant and will be brought to our shores as a CBU only. The engine is a 2-litre 4 cylinder turbocharged unit that develops 184bhp and 270Nm of torque mated to a 8 speed auto gearbox, with paddle shifters. It gets three driving modes to choose from namely, EcoPro, Comfort and Sport. The 1670 kg saloon is claimed to make the 0-100kmph sprint in 7.9 seconds and max out at 227kmph.

The 5 Series is loaded with features and gets auto start-stop function, brake energy regeneration, a 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, a 10-inch iDrive infotainment display, navigation system and a rear view camera as standard. On the safety front, it gets 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, cornering brake control and DSC with traction control. The 520i is available in three colours and three interior trims and you can buy one now at a BMW showroom near you.
