Dougie Lampkin loops around the Isle Of Man TT on one wheel

Team Evo India

Douglas Martin “Dougie” Lampkin, also known as Doug, wheelied around the Isle Of Mann TT Snaefell Mountain Course which measured 60.67km. Dougie used a highly modified trials motorcycle powered by a 300cc, single cylinder two-stroke fuel-injected based on the Vertigo Combat Ice Hell for this TT wheelie challenge. The bike took Dougie and his team six months to get ready. This, first ever stint was done by the 40 year old on a stretch which is a part of one of the most dangerous, treacherous endurance racing in the world, the Isle Of Man TT. However, there was a catch, the roads were not closed during the performance while it is the opposite when the races take place.

The video shows a brief of how Lampkin has crossed the Isle Man TT course, which goes around a circuit with 200 corners which have got their own steep ups and downs, with traffic on the road. The video starts with a practice session while it continues to the main show where the English professional motorcycle trials and endurocross rider starts counting the distance on one wheel and climbs 1,385 ft above sea level.

After the event, Lampkin said, “That feels amazing; it was so tough out there. To be the first person to wheelie around the TT course ranks right up there with my best achievements and is something I won’t ever repeat.”

Born in Silsden, West Yorkshire into a motorsport influenced family, the Red Bull rider kicked off his career when he was 15. Since then he has won five consecutive World Indoor (1997–2001) and seven consecutive World Outdoor Championships (1997–2003). He has also added four World Team Championships (Trial des Nations), six British Adult Championships, two Spanish Adult Championships and four Scott Trial to his métier. While Lampkin has completed the TT wheelie challenge in one hour and 35 minutes, Michael Dunlop holds the record of 16:53.929 set earlier this, but on two wheels.
