Ford’s latest supercar, the Ford GT was showcased at the Detroit Motor Show in January 2015. Production for the supercar soon followed and the first Ford GT has finally rolled off the production line and is set to be delivered to one of the 500 lucky customers.
The new supercar is powered by a new 3.5-litre twin-turbocharged, Ecoboost V6 engine, combined with a 7-speed dual clutch automatic gearbox which produces an estimated 600bhp. But what really makes the GT stand out from its European counterparts is the sleek design philosophy with minimal yet large air-scoops for aero purposes. The monocoque chassis is mainly comprised of carbonfibre with even the bodywork made with infused aerospace aluminium. Ford have managed to make the GT as stable at high speeds with the active aerodynamic components including an active rear spoiler which retracts or deploys, adjusts its pitch angle as per the driving requirements.
The GT will be offered with eight colour options along with the customer having the choice to opt for his preferred racing stripe colour, additional costs applied. There will also be an option of the car coming in the 1966 Le Mans winning scheme of black body paint with silver racing stripes but only limited for the initial production lot.
Originally Ford had originally planned for limiting the production run to just 500. But after receiving an overwhelming response, Ford has extended the production line for another 500 applicants, all of the applicants being closely scrutinised by Ford themselves. The American supercar will be built over a span of four years due to such high order numbers and deliveries of the supercar are to start hopefully in the opening few weeks of 2017.
