Honda Cars India launched cross-over MPV, the BR-V, at a starting price of Rs 8.75 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The Honda BR-V is based on the Mobilio platform and goes against the likes of Renault Duster and Hyundai Creta. Unlike its competitors, the BR-V gets three rows of seats giving it an added advantage.

The BR-V comes with Honda’s tried and tested engines that power the City and Mobilio. The petrol variant is powered by a 1.5-litre i-VTEC engine that makes 117bhp of power and 145Nm of torque while the diesel variant gets the 1.5-litre i-DTEC motor that produces 99bhp and 200Nm. Both engines are mated to a 6-speed manual transmission but only the petrol motor gets the CVT option.

Honda has not compromised on the safety front by providing dual-front airbags and braking aids such as ABS with EBD standard on all trims barring the base petrol model which doesn’t get the latter features.

The BR-V is offered in 5 variants, E, S, V, V-VCT and VX. All the variants get projector headlamps, roof rails, tilt steering, power windows and 60/40 split seats for the second row and 50/50 seats for the third row. The VX gets LED position headlamps, Heat absorbing windshield, Chrome side protector and Chrome garnish on the bumpers. Sirish recently drove the BR-V in Udaipur and here’s what he had to say about it.
