Hyundai Grand i10 facelift launched

Abhishek Wairagade

Hyundai India launched a facelift of the Grand i10 today in the wake of Maruti Suzuki Ignis‘ launch, which happened last month. The hatch gets minor cosmetic updates on the outside as well as some tweaks to the diesel unit along with the addition of a larger touchscreen.

The Grand i10 has been popular in the country thanks to its automatic tranny and easy-to-maneuver demeanor. The design is typical for a Korean car, flashy and radical and now Hyundai has made it even better by adding DRLs to the revised bumper that incorporates a larger grille. Even the rear bumper gets a massive faux diffuser along with the addition of circular brake lamps. Everything else remains the same on the outside.

Talking about the engines, the 1.1-litre. 3-cylinder U2 CRDI diesel unit gets an addition of 100cc and now makes 74bhp of power and 190Nm of torque. The petrol unit still retains its traits with a capacity of 1.2-litre. The diesel can be had with only a 5-speed manual transmission while the petrol also gets the option of an 4-speed automatic.

Hyundai cars are well known for their comfort and features and the Grand i10 is no different. In the refreshed avatar, it now gets an upgraded 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Even the voice command system is now standard. The diamond cut alloys are inspired by its larger sibling, the Creta and look great on the Grand i10 as well.

Having revised the pricing, the base petrol variant is now cheaper by Rs 30,000 than the outgoing model while the top-of-the-line diesel trim is expensive by again, Rs 30,000 (similar to the Ignis). And with the added features, Hyundai has upped its ante to cope up with the funky Maruti Suzuki.
