Mercedes-Benz launched their first product of the year — the GLE 450 AMG Coupé earlier today. This is the first full-size SUV coupé on offer from the German marque and has been priced at Rs. 86.4 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai).

The car is powered by a 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 that makes 362bhp of power and 520Nm of torque. It comes equipped with a nine-speed automatic gearbox and Mercedes-Benz’s 4MATIC all-wheel drive system. All this comes together to accelerate the SUV from a standstill to 100kmph in a quick 5.7 seconds. The transmission has five variable modes including comfort, slippery, sport, sport plus and individual which change the chassis, suspension and steering react to enhance the driving experience.

Visually, the GLE 450 AMG Coupé is quite similar to the regular GLE launched last year. However, this Coupé version features a sloping roofline to give it a sportier look. It also comes with massive 21-inch wheels as standard. This SUV also gets the regular AMG visual treatment — aggressive bumpers, wider body cladding and a dual exhaust system.

The GLE 450 Coupé will take on the likes of the BMW X6. Mercedes-Benz has 11 more products lined up to be launched in 2016. They had a stellar year in 2015 and broke all their previous sales records. It will be interesting to see where 2016 takes them.
