New Volkswagen Tiguan at IAA 2015

Ed: Sharply styled Tiguan is coming early next year. Priced correctly should do very well for Volkswagen.

Volkswagen has revealed the new Tiguan at the IAA 2015, though the car will be making its entry late into the Indian market, the quality and styling of the compact SUV will appeal to masses. The new Tiguan comes with new designs and new technology.

At the IAA in Frankfurt, the Tiguan will be showcased in four versions. The sporty Tiguan R-Line, the classic on-road model and an off-road version tuned specifically for off-road use. Also, presenting the future aspects will be the Tiguan GTE – a concept vehicle with a plug-in hybrid drive (160 kW/218 PS of system power)

The new Tiguan is based on the MQB (modular transverse matrix) platform. The SUV is stylish outside and spacious inside. The boot now has a volume of 615 litres and with the rear bench folded, its capacity is 1655 litres which is an increase of 145 litres over the previous car.

At IAA the car will be showcased in eight engine options ranging between 85 kW / 115 PS and 176 kW / 240 PS. The car now claims better fuel efficiency with more power and the company claims it to be 24 per cent more fuel-efficient as compared to its predecessor.

With the new 4MOTION Active Control the driver can adjust the all-wheel drive system individually making the drive easier under all conditions. Enhancing the safety is the Front Assist with City Emergency Braking and Pedestrian Monitoring, Lane Assist and the Automatic Post-Collision Braking System which comes as standard across all variants.
