Next-gen Maruti Swift leaked

Team Evo India

Suzuki recently showed sketches of the next generation Swift at a dealer conference and some of the images have been leaked online.

The sketches clearly show an evolutionary design approach for the new Swift, something the company strongly believes in for its high selling products. An evolutionary design ensures better chances of success. The blacked out A-pillar, rounded roof and curved sill are all carried over. The waistline leads to the bulbous rear with a similar tail light design to the current Siwft. What’s interesting is split exhaust tips which most likely will go on to the Swift Sport and considering the increasing appetite for hot hatchbacks, it could make it to India too. The front end of the new Swift looks a lot more aggressive with a large air dam and big recesses for the fog lamps. The sharper front end also indicates at an increase in length and hopefully the new Swift gets better legroom in the rear. The part-blacked out C-pillar also gives the impression that the Swift is longer now.

The interior gets a major upgrade now, the key being the large touchscreen infotainment system that will most likely be the same unit from the Maruti parts bin. There’s automatic climate control, a chunkier steering wheel with steering mounted controls and a larger sporty looking instrument cluster. Powering the new Swift will be the same set of engines from the Baleno and the 1.0-litre boosterjet may also be introduced.
