Renault is finally going to unveil the Captur in India on September 21. The highly anticipated SUV will be placed just above the Duster in Renault’s India line-up and will compete with models such as Hyundai Creta and the Jeep Compass. The Captur is available in Europe, Brazil, Russia, South Africa and some parts of South America for quite some time and it only seems fit that the company banks on the Duster’s success henceforth.

The Captur is expected to be made in the country with heavy localisation of parts. We figure that the M0 platform as well as the two powertrains that are employed on the Duster will feature on the new SUV as well, albeit with different tuning. Currently, the 1.5-litre petrol motor churns out 104bhp and 142Nm while the 1.5-litre diesel motor arrives in two trims – a 84bhp and 200Nm base tune and 108bhp and 245Nm performance trim.

It features a bold Renault logo placed at the centre of the grille, wide headlamps with projectors and LED DRLs, sculpted lines on the bonnet, C shaped fog lamps, silver skid plates at the front and the rear and black plastic cladding all-around accentuating its crossover appeal. Interiors feature a touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth, AUX and smartphone pairing capabilities, three-spoke steering wheel with audio controls and a sporty metre console with LCD display at the centre.

Although, Renault is unveiling the Captur on September 21, the launch date is yet to be announced, we expect it to be launched by the end of this year.
