Tata look all set to welcome their first new offering of the year in the form of their new hatchback – the Zica, on January 20, 2016. The Zica will compete against the Maruti Suzuki Celerio and the Hyundai Grand i10.

Abbreviated from “Zippy Car” – the Zica is Tata’s newest offering. It is built on an all-new platform named “XO”. Tata offers two engines for the vehicle. A 1.2liter, three cylinder Revotron petrol engine which delivers 84bhp and 114Nm of torque despite it being naturally aspirated rather than the turbocharged Bolt.

However the diesel engine provides the car a next-gen persona. The power churned out maybe only 69bhp but the torque displaced 139Nm all that from a small 1.05-litre three cylinder Revotorq engine. Both the engines have been mated to a 5-speed manual transmission, no AMTs as of the moment.

The top-of-the-line variant will be laden with Tata’s ConnectNext infotainment system. It has been kitted out with Bluetooth telephony, AUX as well as USB ports but the introduction of the Harman speaker system raises the bar of expectations in the hatchback department. The variant will also come with ABS, EBD and two airbags.

With the base version touted to be priced at Rs. 3.8 lakh, the Zica is surely a highly value-for-money package from Tata.
