Auto expo 2016: Volkswagen announces plans for 2016

Despite last year’s transgressions Volkswagen is looking at 2016 positively. They say that sales have grown 8% in January as compared to the same month last year. They have also announced that despite most of their diesel engines being in compliance with the current norm, they will recall those units that have been affected. Charting the way forward, VW looks to expand their current lineup of cars with a new entrant into the highly contested compact sedan segment.

The Ameo which we had reported to be revealed at the expo will be one – possibly the most significant – of the four new cars that they will launch this year. The entire car will be produced indigenously in the sub-continent  at VWs Pune plant. Which can handle the entire manufacturing process from scratch after VW’s 800 million Euro investment.

Among the other launches set for this year, VW will launch New Passat GTE – plug in hybrid. The Passat GTE can run as much as 50kms on electricity, and will serve as a prelude to new Passat to be launched at end of next year. VW has also promised to bring the Tiguan to India by the beginning of the next fiscal year.

During next 15 months,Volkswagen will launch four new models of which we know that the Ameo is set to break cover soon. However, stay tuned as VW will be launching the Polo GTi tomorrow.
