Ferrari FXX-K gets aero upgrades along with the Evo badge

Ferrari showcased its FXX-K with an Evo package at the Finalli Mondiali weekend in Italy. Ferrari has incorporated its Formula 1 and GT series expertise in the development of the track specific edition, improving the aerodynamics significantly.

The XX programme was launched in 2005 where cars were developed specifically for in-house research and development studies to improve the performance of Ferrari’s roadcars. The FXX-K Evo was extensively developed for over a year with CFD simulations, wind tunnel testing to achieve the acceleration in cornering, stability and performance figures close to that of the cars competing in GT3 and GTI championships. As a result, the FXX-K Evo produces  a downforce of whopping 640kg at 200kmph and 830kg at its top speed.

Limited to client testing, the hyper car sports a twin profile rear wing on the tail to increase down force and reduce the drag co-efficient.  Ferrari claim that the many changes done on the aerodynamic front like the front brake air intakes, twin profile rear wing, rear bumpers and under body, boost the down force by a collective 45 per cent.On the inside too, the race inspired cabin gets an F1 derived steering wheel with integrated paddle shifters, a 6.5-inch screen giving telemetry readouts and Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS) status.

The FXX-K Evo has undergone an extensive 5000km of development runs and 15,000km of reliability test-drives for the XX programme for the 2018-19 season spanning 9 track outings between March and October.
