Lexus enters India, launches the RX 450h and ES 300h, showcases LX 450d

Japan’s answer to the likes of BMW, Audi, Mercedes-Benz and Jaguar made a grand entry to India today with Lexus launching two vehicles and showcasing two more. Completing the Lexus portfolio in India are two petrol hybrid vehicles, namely the RX 450h SUV and the ES 300h sedan while the big daddy LX 450d diesel SUV was showcased. The RX line up gets two trim levels, the RX Luxury, which will retail at Rs 1.07 crore and the RX F-Sport, which is priced at Rs 1.1 crore. The ES 300h sedan is priced at Rs 55.3 lakh. All prices being ex-showroom.

Along with the RX and the ES, Lexus also showcased the LX 450d SUV, but sadly did not launch the product. However, Lexus’s top management announced that they would be announcing the price of the big SUV shortly. The surprise of the day however began with a sneak peak of the brand new fifth generation LS 600h, which the company announced would also be coming to India in the near future.

The RX is powered by a 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine working in collaboration with electric motors. Combined output of this powertrain is 308bhp and 335Nm of peak torque. The ES is powered by a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine that works in conjunction with electric motors to put out a total of 200bhp and 212Nm of peak torque. The LX 450d gets a 270bhp turbocharged 4.5-litre V8.
