Maruti Alto 800 facelift due anytime soon

Maruti is gearing up for a mid-life refresh for the Alto 800 which is expected to be launched soon. Since its launch in 2012, the budget hatchback is due for its first cosmetic upgrade. Expect the launch soon as the spy shot you see here seems to be clicked in a stockyard.

It is said that not much has been changed on the inside of the updated Maruti Alto 800, except the new fabric design of the upholstery. However, on the outside there are a lot of minor changes that have taken place. While the headlights remain the same, the turn indicators next to them seem to get a new pair of amber-shade lens, to replace the current car’s clear ones. The prominent Suzuki logo which used to be on the grille now sits below it. The grille itself seems to look smaller than before. The new front bumper comes with wider hexagonal air dam, which we assume has been done to compensate the volume of air flow. Next to the hexagonal air dam, the Alto 800 gets a pair of fog lamp inserts as well, which is absent in the current car.

The Alto competes against the likes of the Hyundai Eon, Renault Kwid and the upcoming Datsun redi-GO in the entry hatchback segment. With fresher competition coming in, Maruti wants to step up its game with the Alto. We expect it to get more features too to combat its rivals.
