Triumph has launched the Street Triple S for Rs. 8.50 lakh
Triumph launched the Street Triple S today at a price of Rs. 8.50 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. While the Street Triple S is the base variant, the R and the RS that top the range are yet to be launched and expected to be here sometime later this year.
The new Street Triple is powered by a 765cc liquid cooled 12 valve, DOHC, inline 3-cylinder engine that is developed from a racebred Daytona engine. It peaks its power of 111bhp at 11250 rpm and a torque of 73Nm of torque at 10421 rpm and is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. The new Street Triple S comes with ride-by-wire throttle with up to two riding modes, road and rain, that manipulate the throttle response, ABS and traction control in accordance to the riding conditions. The naked also gets a fully revised LCD screen.
Present at the launch, Mr. Vimal Sumbly, Managing Director, Triumph Motorcycles India said, “Our ambition is to deliver the a state of the art roadster that is both addictive everyday fun and a full track weapon. Owning the Street Triple also gives Triumph enthusiast a chance of owning a bit of the exhilarating Moto 2 engine.”
The lighter (166kg) Street Triple S also comes with an option of a Quickshifter that can be added for faster upshifts of up to 2.5 times better than a skilled rider. Other equipment includes all new ‘gullwing’ swingarm, new flyscreen with integrated air intake and new inner and outer radiator radiator cowls along with painted rear body.
The Street Triple S will go head to head with the recently launched Aprilia Shiver 900 and along with the Ducati Monster 821 and the entry-level 797 that is due for a launch in a couple of days. It will also compete with the Kawasaki Z900 which is very well priced but still expensive by Rs 50,000, as compared to the Triumph. Triumph will also be launching the R and the RS version later this year while bookings for the new Street Triple S have commenced and the deliveries are expected to start after a week’s time.
