Simple Energy launches Simple One Gen 2 range at an introductory starting price of ₹1.40 lakh

Simple One Gen 2 gets a refreshed look, improved aero and a more rigid chassis;

The updated lineup of Simple One scooters offers a plethora of features with a lifetime battery and motor warranty

The Indian startup, Simple Energy kicks off the first week of 2026 with two new model variants of its Gen 2 Simple One electric scooter with prices starting from ₹1.40 lakh (introductory base variant price) for the OneS, followed by the mid-spec One variant with a 4.5kWh battery, priced at ₹1.70 lakh and tops-off at ₹1.78 lakh for the 5kWh pack equipped top variant.

They also gave a glimpse into the possible capabilities of the upcoming Simple Ultra scooter which is said to deliver a colossal 400km IDC tested range from its 6.5kWh pack. It will do 0 to 40kmph in 2.77 seconds with a top speed of 115kmph. Let’s dive deep into what’s new about Simple Energy’s latest lineup.

Simple One upgrades from Gen 1.5 to Gen 2

The brand assures that this generational upgrade isn’t merely a skin deep job. These new scooters are results of meticulous revisions that run to their very bones. The Gen 2 Simple One(s) portray a leaner and a sharper silhouette which has been effected in the interest of improving the coefficient of drag and high-speed stability. It has also received a reprofiled tail section to match the rest of the bodywork. There’s also a host of ergonomic improvements such as repositioned switchgear which has made for some new buttons along with a lowered seat height of 780mm which favours comfort. Speaking of seats, the underseat storage has also grown to accommodate 35 litres of ‘precious cargo,’ which is complemented by the additional 1-litre glovebox storage at the front.

Let’s talk about amenities, the Simple One scooters now have a USB charging port on the handlebar itself and a new 7-inch touchscreen instrument cluster. It is worth mentioning that the base model gets a non-touch variety of screen. However, both varieties of screens run Android 12 OS, and offer some form of navigation and TPMS functionalities. As for onboard storage, it's 32GB for One and 8GB for OneS. These also have a 5G e-SIM with LTE and Bluetooth capabilities.

What’s more? Simple Energy has also made available safety and rider’s assist features like disc brakes on the front and rear, newly added traction control, four-level regen and cruise control. All variants get six riding modes — Eco X, Eco, Ride, Air, Sonic, and Sonic X. The brand additionally claims that the chassis is now stiffer by 22 per cent and the battery crash zones (frontal safety) are 50 per cent stronger as well.

Simple One Gen 2 5kWh

This is the top-spec variant and the most powerful amidst the currently available models from Simple Energy. It is equipped with a 5kWh battery pack which affords it a IDC tested range of 265km. It produces 11.8bhp and 72Nm, and is capable of doing the sprint from 0 to 40kmph in 2.55 seconds with a 115kmph top speed.

Simple One Gen 2 4.5kWh

Now the 4.5kWh battery fitted model sits in the middle of the new range. It can extract an IDC tested range of 236km, and is good for a peak output of 8.5bhp and 52Nm with 0 to 40kmph coming in 3.3 seconds. The scooter tops off at 90kmph.

Simple OneS Gen 2 3.7kWh

It is the entry-level model with the smallest battery size of 3.7kWh, which delivers an IDC tested range of 190km. Despite being the base variant this is neither the slowest nor the least powerful of the lot. It makes 8.5bhp and 52Nm, does the 0 to 40 sprint in 3 seconds flat (claimed) with a 90kmph top speed.

Simple One Gen 2 price and rivals

The range starts from an introductory price of ₹1.40 lakh for the base OneS variant. The mid-spec Simple One with the 4.5kWh battery is priced at ₹1.70 lakh and the top-of-the-shelf 5kWh variant is priced at ₹1.78 lakh (all prices are ex-showroom). This new generation of Simple One scooters come with a lifetime warranty on both the battery as well as the motor. These scooters will be rivaled by products such as Ather Rizta which starts from ₹1.05 lakh and TVS Orbiter is priced at ₹1.04 lakh (all prices are ex-showroom).
