TVS Apache hits 7 million sales mark
From 2005 to now, there have been a lot of iterations of the Apache brand, with currently seven models on sale.
Over the years, the TVS Apache lineup has caught the eye of youngsters and mature audiences alike and become one of the most recognisable motorcycles on Indian roads. As a result of that, from its original launch in 2005 to now in 2026, TVS Motor Company has sold seven million units of the Apache. Here's a quick look at the history and the current lineup of TVS Apache bikes.
A brief history
Since its inception, TVS Apache has grown a lot, featuring many first-in-class features like petal discs, fuel injection, dual-channel ABS, and TVS’s built-to-order platform. The TVS Apache initially debuted with RTR 150, while over the years the engines might have changed and the chassis might have been reworked. It has stayed true to its roots of bringing track-like performance to the road.
Current TVS Apaches on sale
Currently, TVS features a total of 8 bikes in its Apache lineup: The TVS RTR 160 is its simplest offering, featuring a 2-valve 160cc engine along with a slightly older design and a disc brake at the front and a drum brake at the rear. Moving up a level, we get to the RTR 160 4V. With its updated engine, it also gets a better upside-down suspension, dual-channel ABS, a TFT cluster, and a more modern design. The RTR 180 follows in the footsteps of the RTR 160 2V, featuring the same chassis and design but with an 180cc engine and dual-channel ABS.
The RR310 is for the folks who want something they can track on the daily; it was made in collaboration with BMW Motorrad and is powered by a 312cc single-cylinder engine. The RTR 310 is a naked street bike featuring the same engine as its track counterpart. The RTX 300 is TVS’s latest offering; it is an adventure bike that features an all-new RT-XD4 300cc engine and offers a smooth experience both on-road and off-road.
