New TVS Victor review

Team Evo India

One of TVS’s most successful nameplates. The Victor retains the original 110cc displacement but is a an all-new bike that will sit above the Star City Plus, another 110cc bike that the company currently sells.

All-new?

It gets a new 110 cc with a three-valve head, a first-in-class CV carburettor and unique combustion chamber oil cooling for engine temperature reduction. What you will also notice is the lack of any tappet noise thanks to spring-loaded rocker arms.

What else?

The design is now fresh and modern with more curves and pinched edges. It is good-looking without being over the top and perfectly suited to this class. The headlamp offers best in class illumination, instrumentation includes a digital speedometer with an analogue tachometer and the exhaust is a short, stubby affair.

Fun to ride?

The new frame has been reworked for better stiffness and ride quality and makes for very stable road manners and confident cornering. The new Remora tyres by TVS is claimed to offer both low rolling resistance and good wet weather grip and on the dry test track we found it to offer very good cornering grip for this class of motorcycle. The bike can be chucked in corners with utmost confidence and the front disc brake is powerful and offers great feedback.

Powerful?

The 110cc unit makes 9.5bhp and 9.4 Nm and has a claimed 7.2 second 0-60kmph time. Thanks to the CV carburettor fuelling is very even with no snatchiness and jerks when the throttle is whacked open at low revs. NVH levels too are quite impressive with ample low down torque from the free revving engine. It is mated to a four-speed gearbox.

Efficient?

TVS is claiming a fuel efficiency of 76 kmpl made possible due to lower rolling resistance tyres, friction loss tech in the engine and a new ignition map.

Value?

Priced at Rs 51,490(ex-showroom Delhi) for the disc brake version and Rs 49,490 for the drum brake version, the Victor offers quite a lot in terms of features, performance and comfort.
