Audi R8 Motormind: Fancy a sexy customisation for your Audi R8?

Team Evo India

Chances of spotting R badged Audis other than the flagship R8 are really minute. Especially in metropolitan cities, unless you are based in Dubai where even Ferraris and Lamborghinis are as common as an Alto. But we aren’t a super car country and yet the Audi R8 is still one of the most popular exotic cars in the country. It’s loved by one and all, including the captain of the Indian cricket team. Virat Kohli not only owns an R8 V10 Plus but also the track focused LMX. But if you have spent over a crore of rupees and still aren’t able to stand out from the crowd, is it worth spending the money? Fret not, Bangalore based Motormind is here to help you do exactly that.

What is Motormind?

Motormind is a brainchild of Shahid Haq, the man behind Hyperion 1 (that is now nearing production), India’s answer to the Caterhams and KTM X-Bow. Shahid began developing body kits for cars way back in 2010. The latest addition to the portfolio include kits for Creta, Micra and Cruze. However, very few in India have manufactured full blown kits for a sports car. Shahid dared to venture out into the territory and began work on his own R8. The images you see here are of his own car with a Stingray inspired body kit (it was first wrapped silver, and then in peel-off red paint). It includes all-new front and rear bumpers, a large spoiler and side skirts. The soft corners of the R8 have been made to look sharper and it gets a single slat grille. All of which makes it look like a facelift rather than a body kit, thus sticking to the original philosophy of Audi and nothing more.

“If you are a sucker for carbon fibre, Motormind will get it done for you, but expect to pay almost five times the money. The regular body kit costs Rs 2 lakh. And if you don’t like something, Motormind will customise it as per your liking”

Modifying your last-gen Audi R8 at Motormind

The bolt-on kit takes a few days to manufacture at Motormind’s facility. Everything is made of fibreglass and is strengthened as per the car’s requirements. If you are a sucker for carbon fibre, Motormind will get it done for you, but expect to pay almost five times the money. The regular body kit costs Rs 2 lakh. And if you don’t like something, Motormind will customise it as per your liking. The best part is, you don’t need to drill a hole into the car’s bodywork or chassis, everything is developed exactly like an OEM. Just get the panels shipped to yourself, take them to your nearest dealer and that’s it, you are sorted. Whether you believe it or not, the silver R8 you are seeing is not painted but wrapped!

Both, the silver and red cars are the same and have been customised at Motormind’s facility. After you’ve snapped on the new parts, there is no change in the body weight and no compromise in the ground clearance, so your Audi R8 stays as practical as ever, yet a lot more stylish. If you want additional DRLs, a few scoops, more fins or slats, Motormind will do it for you. The kit can be retrofitted on the previous generation R8 that was sold until 2015 and definitely delivers a new lease of life without spending a bomb.
