Read on for a closer look at the standings and all the action from the first day of the race weekend.

Raoul Hyman won the IRL Driver B Race at Coimbatore

Indian Racing League

Raoul Hyman clinched his second win of the season in the IRL Driver B Race at Coimbatore. Hyman, who races for the Goa Aces JA Racing Team, put in a dominant performance in the IRL race at Kari Motor Speedway, and finishing behind him in second place was Shahan Ali Mohsin from the Speed Demons Delhi team. Completing the podium for this category was Ruhaan Alva of Kichcha’s Kings Bengaluru.

Race 4 of the F4IC was won by Ishaan Madesh

Formula 4 Indian Championship

The three F4IC races which took place on the Day 2 of the Indian Racing Festival were action-packed, featuring aggressive driving and close racing. The first F4IC race for the weekend took place on Saturday – you can read about it here in our Day 1 race report – and when it comes to Race 2 which took place on Sunday, it was Shane Chandaria of the Chennai Turbo Riders who crossed the chequered flag in first place, followed by Luviwe Sambudla of Goa Aces JA Racing and Itsuki Sato of Ahmedabad Apex Racers. Race 3 unfolded in a dramatic fashion, initially being led by Shane Chandaria, who had pulled ahead of the rest of the pack with a sizable lead. On the final lap however, Sachel Rotge, who had been following Chandaria in second place and keeping up the pressure on the leader, ended up making contact with the Chennai Turbo Riders driver. Sato, the Japanese racer who had only made his Indian racing debut the previous day, ended up winning Race 3 of the F4IC, with Sambudla finishing the race in second place once again. Ishaan Madesh of Kolkata Royal Tigers finished this hotly-contested race in third place. Madesh would also go on to win Race 4 of the F4IC, charging past Saishiva Sankaran of Speed Demons Delhi and Chandaria in the last F4IC race of the weekend.

The third LGB Formula 4, which took place on Day 2 of the IRF race weekend at Coimbatore, saw Dhruvh Goswami of the MSport team cross the finish line in first place, followed by Dark Don Racing’s Diljith T S who finished the race in second place. Mehul Agarwal of Dark Don Racing, who had dominated in the previous two LGB Formula 4 races which took place the previous day, completed the podium for Race 3. Agarwal would also go on to finish first in Race 4, the final race of the weekend – which meant he finished on the podium four times and won three of the four races he competed in this weekend. Agarwal’s teammate Diljith finished Race 4 in second place, with Goswami completing the podium for the last LGB Formula 4 race of the weekend.

Round 4, the second to last round of the IRF season, will take all the action to Goa which will be hosting its first-ever street race. This penultimate round will be followed by the season finale in Navi Mumbai, with both Goa and Navi Mumbai featuring new street circuits – and it certainly is great time to be a motorsport enthusiast in India!
