The Bishop’s School in Pune becomes the first partner school under the F1 Sim Racing Programme by Mumbai Falcons

Have you wondered what it takes to become an F1 driver? Motorsport, and Formula One in particular, has been a discipline that demands absolute commitment from the grassroots level. Most F1 drivers started off their journey by getting into go karts from a very young age and nurturing their talent before moving up the ranks, eventually making it to the pinnacle of the sport. Now however, there’s another avenue of getting into motorsport in India, with Mumbai Falcons announcing it will be bringing a simulator-based racing programme to schools for identifying motorsport talent at an early stage. The Bishop’s School in Pune is the first partner school to be part of this F1 Sim Racing India programme.

"One of the objectives behind bringing the F1 Sim Racing Programme to India is to make motorsport more accessible to young people across the country," says Ameet Gadhoke, managing director, Mumbai Falcons Racing Limited

As a part of the F1 Sim Racing India programme, partner schools will receive the simulator infrastructure, training support and a structured learning module which will introduce students to simulator racing. Think of it as a learning curriculum on motorsport which will educate students about the concepts of motorsport (via learning modules) as well as practical aspects of the sport (by driving on the simulators). Another benefit of the sim racing programme is that students or young motorsport enthusiasts will no longer be limited by the lack of access to a racetrack, as this programme will make motorsport accessible to all, with the benefit of helping newbies learn in a safe, virtual environment as they develop their skills before getting into racing machines.

Speaking on the occasion of the announcement, Ameet Gadhoke, managing director, Mumbai Falcons Racing Limited said, "One of the objectives behind bringing the F1 Sim Racing Programme to India is to make motorsport more accessible to young people across the country. Schools are an important part of that effort because they allow us to engage students and parents at an early stage and introduce them to a discipline that combines skill, focus, technology and competition.” The sim racing programme will be rolled out to more schools across India in a phased manner, and this programme will likely go a long way in ensuring that future of motorsport talent from India is supported and encouraged from the grassroots level.
