Auto Expo 2018: KIA showcases the SP Concept

Team Evo India

Kia is one of the biggest brand showcases at the Indian Auto Expo. The new automotive entrant has presented its complete range including the Stinger but the main focus of the Kia stall is at the worldwide debut of the SP SUV concept.

While Kia does have a few SUVs and crossovers in its range, this new SP Concept which has made its global debut in India shows the direction that the new Korean auto brand will take for some of its new products. The SP Concept has a very distinct Kia design language – especially up front with the large signature grille. At the same time though, the SP concept brings about a new direction in design with the large and sharp LED headlamps. The SP Concept also features a very distinct set of large wheels, which might not make it to production along with a slightly raked roofline and a glasshouse that tapers around the C-Pillar.

The new Kia SUV does have a slight resemblance to the likes of the Hyundai Creta from the rear but it also has a lot of design similarities to the likes of some of the other SUVs in the Kia range – like the current generation Sportage for instance. All said and done though, the SP Concept is certainly a looker. And Kia will start Indian sales after plant in Andhra Pradesh is completed in mid 2019 that has a massive initial capacity of 300,000 units!

Along with the SP Concept, Kia’s entire line up of cars are showcased here at the expo, including the Picanto, Rio, Stonic, Soul EV, Stinger, Mohave, Niro and the Optima. Looks like KIA has some major plans for India.
