Piaggio Group launched the Aprilia SR 125 at the Auto Expo at a price of Rs 65,310 (ex-showroom, Pune). The Aprilia SR 150 made its debut two years ago and set the cash registers ringing. The launch of SR 125 and unveiling of Storm shows the company’s confidence in the Indian market. The new SR 125 will be available across all Vespa and Aprilia dealerships in India.

The Aprilia SR 125 carries forward the same styling that is seen on its bigger sibling, the SR 150. The SR 125 is powered by a 124.49cc motor that puts out 9.5bhp and 9.9Nm of torque. It gets 30mm diameter telescopic forks and hydraulic shock absorber for suspension duties. Braking is taken care by a 220mm disc with twin piston callipers and a drum brake setup. The Storm is also powered by the same engine as on the SR 125 and shares its power and torque figures too. What sets the Storm apart is the styling, with the red and black or yellow paint job and those fat tubeless 120 and 130 section front and rear tyres that makes it look butch.

Piaggio also showcased the Vespa Elettrica and introduced mobile connectivity options for Vespa and Aprilia scooters. The app comes with features like panic alert and ability to locate nearby service centres. The app also stores all information related to the bike.

At the Auto Expo, the managing director of Piaggio India, Diego Graffi said, “Our aim is to produce products which cut across categories and fulfil the needs of our exclusive customer segment across the country. With these launches, we continue our legacy of creating new categories in India and expanding our footprint across the geography, while also further strengthening our differentiated strategy with new innovations like the smart connectivity feature.”
