Auto Expo 2018: Maruti Suzuki’s line up

Team Evo India

Maruti Suzuki is gearing up for the Auto Expo 2018, and they have some big news for us. From an all new design language, to the much awaited price of the 2018 Swift, Maruti plans to keep us on the edge of our seats.

#ConceptFutureS

Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) plans to introduce an all new compact car design language in the form of Future-S this year. The concept is being touted by MSIL as a uniquely styled compact car that has SUV like characters aimed to delight customers in the compact car space. MSIL plans to redefine compact car design language with Future-S by creating its own market positioning beyond conventional proportions. The design is created in-house by Maruti and will mark a big shift in the way compact cars are designed in India.

e-Survivor

Another interesting car to be showcased is the fully electric concept e-survivor that made its global debut in Tokyo motor show last year. The e-Survivor concept is a uniquely styled, small electric off-roader. The concept is based on a ladder-frame chassis and huge wheel arches, large knobby tyres add to the model’s off-road credentials. The concept is powered by four electric motors, one in each wheel, and comes with all-wheel-drive. The cabin sports a spherical display that shows the car and its immediate environs. Sensors mounted around the SUV are meant to relay this information to the screen.  This concept brings together many new technologies that depict the new and exciting F.A.C.E of Suzuki’s intent for Future Mobility. (Four-Wheel Drive, Autonomous, Connected and Electric).

Suzuki Hybrid system (HEV)

The company will showcase its next generation of Hybrid technology for electric vehicles. It is called the Suzuki Hybrid System (HEV) and currently powers the Suzuki Solio and Swift cars in Japan. The technology delivers “high efficiency, lower emissions and capability of pure electric drive while offering superior driving performance” according to the company. Hybrid tech will accelerate the push towards EVs and further reduce dependency on fossil fuels.

Swift Launch

One of the biggest launches at the Auto Expo this year, the new generation Maruti Suzuki Swift, will take place at the biennial event. The 2018 Swift is a massive improvement of its predecessor and we were thoroughly impressed with how well it drives. The price, along with the fuel-efficiency figures would be announced by Maruti at the expo. Bookings for the all-new Swift are already open while deliveries should commence soon after the expo.
