BMW Motorrad has taken the wraps off the new R 1300 RT, a high-performance touring motorcycle that blends advanced technology with long-distance comfort. With a redesigned chassis, more powerful engine, and a host of rider aids, the R 1300 RT is ready to set new standards in the touring segment. Whether it’s cross-country cruising or weekend escapes, this machine is engineered to deliver performance, comfort, and safety in equal measure.

BMW R 1300 RT design and features

The new R 1300 RT comes with a host of updates aimed at elevating both rider experience and safety. It sports a refreshed design with a dynamic front end, now housing adaptive LED headlights that adjust to riding conditions. High-end safety tech like cruise control, lane change warning, and collision warning (front and rear) are now part of the package. The bike features a massive 10.25-inch full-colour TFT screen with integrated map navigation, offering a premium cockpit-like experience. For audiophiles, BMW offers the Audio Pro system with a tweeter and subwoofer as an optional upgrade. The bike is available in four variants – Basic, Triple Black, Impulse, and Option 719 Camargue, each with distinct styling elements.

BMW R 1300 RT engine, chassis and suspension

Powering the R 1300 RT is the same 1300cc liquid-cooled engine that delivers 143bhp and 149Nm of torque that does duties in the R 1300 GS, offering smooth and robust performance for long-distance rides. The bike is built on a new sheet metal main frame, which enhances rigidity and reduces weight. It features an electronic dynamic chassis that allows riders to select between two ride setups – one for comfort and the other for dynamic handling. Suspension duties are handled by the Dynamic ESA (Electronic Suspension Adjustment), now standard, and the bike also includes engine drag torque control. Riders can choose from three standard riding modes – Rain, Road, and Eco – with Dynamic and Dynamic Pro offered optionally for more spirited riding.

Following the official unveiling of the BMW R 1300 RT, Harald Spagl, Project Manager BMW R 1300 RT added– “With the new BMW R 1300 RT, we’ve taken the touring icon from BMW Motorrrad to a whole new level. It is lighter in design, more accessible and more dynamic than ever before. In addition, with a completely new engine, chassis and aerodynamics, it offers a riding experience that meets the highest demands in this segment in terms of dynamics, comfort and travel capability".

BMW R 1300 RT seating comfort

The BMW R 1300 RT places a strong focus on rider and passenger comfort, making it ideal for long-distance touring. It features a newly designed, height-adjustable seat that offers improved cushioning and support. The electrically adjustable windshield and refined fairing design enhance wind protection, reducing fatigue on extended rides. For added luxury, heated seats for both rider and passenger are available as optional equipment, ensuring comfort in all weather conditions.

BMW R 1300 RT availability

The BMW R 1300 RT will soon be available in international markets and we can expect the brand to bring it to India sometime in this year. Would you pick this over a Harley-Davidson?
