Harley-Davidson Sprint 440 unveiled at EICMA
The Harley-Davidson Sprint 440 will be made in India by Hero and will be powered by the same 440cc single-cylinder engine as the X440
Harley-Davidson has unveiled the Sprint 440, expanding its lower-displacement lineup, with the cruiser being developed in partnership with Hero MotoCorp. The bike made its public debut at EICMA 2026 in Milan, with a 2027 spring launch planned in the United States. Final assembly will be done at the brand’s Pennsylvania facility.
Harley-Davidson Sprint 440 design and ergonomics
The Sprint 440 brings a more traditional, low-slung cruiser design with a teardrop-shaped fuel tank, circular headlamps, and raised, pulled-back handlebars. The rider gets a scooped seat, with the pillion getting a stepped one. The rear mudguard has also been kept short, with a low-mounted exhaust.
The Sprint 440 revives the nameplate since its discontinuation in 1974
The bike rides on dual-tone alloy wheels, with metallic accents throughout. The Sprint 440 will be available in 3 colourways: Dark Billiard Grey, Vivid Black and Teal Thunder, with some graphics on the tank. The bike has a seat height of 671mm, with optional Reach and Tallboy seats offering further adjustment.
The bike gets the 3.5-inch colour TFT instrument cluster, with a USB-C charging port which is positioned above the headlamp. Harley-Davidson also offers a detachable windscreen, passenger backrest and alternative handlebars, to allow owners to tweak the ergonomics to their preferences.
Harley-Davidson Sprint 440 engine and performance
Power comes from the 440cc air- and oil-cooled engine that produces 26.7bhp and 38Nm of torque; it is mated to a six-speed gearbox with an assist and slipper clutch. The engine has been tuned with a focus on low-end torque rather than top-end performance, similar to the X440. The biggest change is the 9-litre fuel tank compared to the Indian spec X440’s 13.5-litre unit.
Harley-Davidson Sprint 440 chassis and suspension
The Sprint 440 features a steel tube trellis frame which sits on a 43mm USD front fork with 130mm of travel and dual rear shock absorbers with seven-step preload adjustment. The front end gets 19-inch wheels, with the rear end getting 17-inch wheels; both are made from cast aluminium. Braking duties are handled by a 320mm disc at the front with a 240mm disc at the rear.
Harley-Davidson Sprint 440 pricing and rivals
The pricing for the Sprint 440 for India, along with a launch date, is yet to be announced at the time of writing. However, it is likely to land in the same ballpark as the X440. The Sprint 440 has been announced for sale in the US at a starting price of ₹5.69 lakh.
