Kawasaki has brought back the Versys-X 300 to India

The Kawasaki Versys-X 300, the brand’s smallest adventure tourer model in India, follows the design language of the bigger bikes in the Versys range. As the saying goes, second time’s the charm. With a starting price of ₹3.79 lakh, will it be Kawasaki’s recipe for dominating the entry-level touring segment in India?

Kawasaki has shoehorned a 296cc liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine, that makes a respectable power of 39.45bhp at 11,500rpm and 25.7Nm of torque at 10,000rpm. The Versys-X 300 has a telescopic front fork setup and a link-type monoshock at the rear, good for 130mm and 148mm of travel, respectively. Travel it will, being positioned as a touring bike, Kawasaki has given it a 17-litre fuel tank. Alike its siblings from the Versys range, it too will put the rider in an upright riding position which is further honed in by a wide handlebar and a fairly low seat height for easy feet manoeuvrability on the ground.

The Versys-X 300 has a staggered spoked wheel setup with a 19-inch front wheel and a 17-inch rear wrapped in multi-terrain tubed tyres, a common sight in off-road and touring bikes as it helps with traversing a variety of road conditions, This should be aided as well with the 180mm ground clearance. As for the looks, the Versys-X 300 gets a tall cowl design that incorporates a large windshield, adventure style body sculpting, a wide seat with grab handles for the pillion rider and it even has a rear carrier with four built-in tethering hooks for securing luggage. It also features a purposeful looking instrument cluster, which houses a big analogue tachometer in the centre with bold numerals, sandwiched by a multi-function digital LCD screen on the right and a gear indicator with telltale warning lights panel on the left.

The Versys-X 300 comes in two paint schemes which Kawasaki calls ‘Metallic Ocean Blue/Pearl Robotic White’ and ‘Candy Lime Green/Metallic Flat Spark Black.’

The prices for MY25 Kawasaki Versys-X 300 start from ₹3.79 lakh (ex-showroom), it will face a fierce competition from rivals such as Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 that can be had from ₹2.85 lakh (ex-showroom) as well as the KTM 390 Adventure X and Adventure that starts from ₹2.92 lakh (ex-showroom). Kawasaki has announced that deliveries for the Versys-X 300 will start from June, 2025 onwards.
