KTM 390 Adventure R lauched in India
KTM India has quietly listed the 390 Adventure R on its website. The price is ₹3.78 lakh (ex-showroom). This makes it almost ₹20,000 cheaper than the standard 390 Adventure, which costs ₹3.97 lakh.
KTM 390 Adventure R changes
The lower price likely comes from tubed tyres. These are cheaper than the tubeless spoked wheels on the standard model. This bike upgrades the popular 390 Adventure with rally-inspired features. Wheels on the R are 21-inch front and 18-inch rear. They have tubed Mitas Enduro Trail tyres, which suit off-road use. The standard model uses 21/17-inch wheels with tubeless Apollo Tramplr tyres. The main changes are in suspension and wheels. The Adventure R uses the same setup as the 390 Enduro R export model. This gives 230mm of travel at both front and rear. The standard Adventure has 200mm front and 205mm rear travel. These changes mean the Adventure R has a tall 870mm seat height making it significantly taller than the standard variant's 830mm saddle. Ground clearance is 272mm, which is 35mm more than than the standard variant. All these changes suggest that the bike will be a lot more adept at handling the rough stuff. A claim we cannot wait to test ourselves.
KTM 390 Adventure R engine and body
The engine is the same as the standard 390 Adventure. It is a 399cc single-cylinder unit. Power output is 45bhp and 39Nm torque. It pairs with a 6-speed gearbox and bidirectional quickshifter. Bodywork, frame, and electronics are mostly the same. The R comes in one color: white with orange accents. Weight for the UK-spec R is 176kg with a full 14-litre tank. This is 6kg less than the India-spec standard Adventure. India models may add weight from parts like front number plate holder and saree guard. Tech shines bright too. A 5-inch TFT display, customisable with the toggle switches on the handlebar. Cornering ABS and traction control. Switchable rear ABS lets you lock the wheel for slides. Two ride modes, street and rally. Switchable ABS is also present ensuring you can get some sideways fun as and when you please.
Bookings are now open on the KTM India website for a fully refundable token amount of ₹1,999. This bike is designed for riders who want hardcore off-road ability at a good price. It shares many parts with the standard model but adds better suspension and wheels for trails.
