Team Evo India

Kia Motors have announced that bookings for their SUV the Seltos will begin tomorrow. The Seltos can be booked for Rs 25,000 either online or at any one of their 206 sales points across India. A rival to the likes of the Hyundai Creta, the Tata Harrier and the MG Hector, the Seltos will be launched in India on August 22.

The Seltos will be available in two trims lines, the GT Line and the Tech Line, and each ‘Line’ will get four variants. The GT Line, as the name suggests, will be more sporty while the Tech line is a more premium design. There will be three engine configurations on offer – a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol, a 1.5-litre turbo diesel and a 1.4-litre turbo petrol. All the engine options will be BSVI compliant right off the showroom floor. All engines come mated to a six-speed manual as standard, though all of them gets some form of automatic boxes, they are all rather unique. The regular petrol gets a CVT gearbox, the turbo-petrol gets a 7-soeed DCT and the diesel gets a 6-speed torque convertor automatic.

The Seltos which has been designed with the Indian market in mind comes with a host of features like UVO connect which offers services in five different categories like navigation, safety and security, vehicle management, remote control and convenience —  very similar to the features you see on the recently launched Hyundai Venue. It also gets LED headlamps, tail lamps and LED DRL light bar that stretches in to the grille. It also gets drive modes that alter the throttle and steering, as well as off-road modes that alter the ESP and TC settings. Top spec variants get 10.25-inch infotainment screen, a 7-inch instrument cluster and top-spec cars even come with Bose speakers. The Seltos, if priced well will definitely be a good option for people in the market for a well-equipped and connected car.

Mr. Manohar Bhat, vice president and head – sales and marketing, Kia Motors India said, “The Kia Seltos has been built from ground-up, keeping Indian customers in mind and is equipped to redefine the segment. I am proud of the hard-work and dedication put in by all our team in the development of the Seltos, and that has paid off in the way the car has come about to be. We are confident that the customers will be equally delighted by the specifications combination and our wide-spread network of 265 touchpoints in 160 cities that will instill confidence and recognition of the brand. We can’t wait for India to experience the stylish Seltos.”
