Fresh off the heels of the BE 6 Batman Edition launch, Mahindra has now unveiled four new concept SUVs on Independence Day, 2025. The Vision T concept is underpinned by Mahindra’s latest NU.IQ platform, and it is 4.3-m in total length. It will be positioned between the XUV 3XO and the XUV 700. Special emphasis has been put on a tall ride height for ample ground clearance, and is expected to have a 2665mm long wheelbase. Mahindra is eyeing a 5-star crash safety rating from organisations such as ENCAP, ANCAP and GNCAP. Mahindra’s ‘core SUVs’ are going to be made to global standards and for global markets from the ground up. These SUV concepts will be a stencil for upcoming compact ICE as well as EV SUVs from Mahindra by year 2027.

Mahindra Vision T design

The concept SUV has a tall and imposing stance with a five-door body style. The face of the Vision T concept gets the familiar six-slat Mahindra grille with a flatter and right-angular shape, flanked by square LED headlights with a four-split light signature for the DRLs again flanking the main light unit in the centre. It features flat surfaces with sharp angular lines, particularly accentuating the chunky-looking front and rear fenders over the wheel arches. The car has satin bluish-grey paint finish with contrasting bright yellow elements such as the side clamps for securing the bonnet, the front towing hook and the ‘T’ in the Vision T lettering across the SUV. It is equipped with off-road tyres and futuristic-looking aero-focussed wheels with a square design. All five doors have exposed door hinges to add to the tough and rugged character of the SUV. It also gets a C-pillar mounted jerry can for additional storage ( for EVs) with carbonfibre inserts on the left side. Another interesting design choice is the topographic map motifs on the front fenders, further conveying its off-road and adventure potential.

Mahindra Vision T platform and chassis

The Vision T concept is built on the NU.IQ platform that will support both ICE and EV powertrains. Mahindra’s has emphasised on cabin space with a 2665mm wheelbase and has eliminated the transmission tunnel/hump from the floor in the second row. The platform also introduces a 5-link rear suspension — world’s first in the compact segment. It gets DAVINCI dampers — another world’s first. These dampers account for and counter the high CG, striking the ideal balance between ride and handling. There’s a variable steering ratio that helps achieve a turning circle of 10.5-m. This concept also boasts of having the lowest mass to volume ratio. Speaking of which, it is expected to have a 644-litre total cargo space with 450 litres with the parcel shelf in place.

These new concepts could very likely go into production in the year 2027 with both ICE as well as EV powertrains. The production ready versions of the SUVs from Mahindra may look a lot similar to the concepts shown today.
