It was about time that Mercedes-Benz too stepped in the Formula E. At the 89th Geneva International Motor Show, Mercedes-Benz EQ Formula E car will make its first public debut. This team will make it to the grid in the 2019/20 season with two cars and will become the only brand to compete both, Formula 1 and Formula E.

The EQ Silver Arrow 01 gets a ‘teaser livery’, giving a glimpse of the team’s Formula E campaign to come. The car sports a blue line across the side, a colour contrast similar to the Petronas green Formula 1 car. The definitive design will be presented at a later stage ahead of the season opener.

The race car packs a 52kWh battery weighing 385kg and produces 335bhp. This electric car has a maximum speed of 280kmph and can sprint from nought to 100 in mere 2.8 seconds.

Toto Wolff, head of Mercedes-Benz Motorsport “The countdown to our entry into Formula E has now officially begun. Our team has obviously been working behind the scenes on this project for quite a while now, but when you see the car in our teaser livery for the first time, you know that the project has entered a serious phase. Formula E is going to be a completely new playing field for us. But we are looking forward to the challenge of demonstrating the performance of our intelligent battery-electric drives in motorsport and of giving a positive boost to the EQ brand.”
