Hero MotoCorp has launched the Destini 125 scooter in India at Rs 54,650 for the Lx variant while the Vx costs Rs 57,500. The scooter was first showcased at the Auto Expo as the Duet 125. It’s Hero’s fourth scooter offering in India after the Duet, Maestro Edge and Pleasure and is the company’s first 125cc scooter.

The Destini 125 is powered by a 125cc single cylinder air-cooled engine, which is in fact a bored out version of the company’s 110cc unit. It makes 8.7bhp at 6750rpm while the 10.7Nm of peak torque kicks in at 5000rpm. More importantly, the Destini 125 is Hero MotoCorp’s first scooter to get the i3S system, which is essentially an idle-start-stop mechanism for enhanced fuel economy. It cuts off the power when the throttle is at idle for a few seconds and reignites instantly on the go. It’s a must have feature these days given the slow start/stop traffic that all big Indian cities suffer from.

The Destini 125 is at par with competition in terms of features. There’s an optional front disc brake, standard Integrated Braking System (IBS) across all trims, pass light switch, external fuel filling port, a USB charging port and a semi digital instrument panel which displays information like side stand indicator, service due reminder and more.

The 125cc scooter segment is rapidly gaining popularity in India and the Destini 125 competes with well-established and popular scooters like the TVS Ntorq 125, Suzuki Access 125 and Honda Activa 125.
