Honda unveils second generation Amaze

Team Evo India

Honda India had some big announcements to make at the Auto Expo 2018. As promised Honda has delivered with two Indian premieres and an international one. The second generation Amaze has been unveiled for the first time along with the fifth generation CR-V and the tenth generation Civic. The second generation Amaze is now far more muscular in appearance than the current one and lets go of the curviness of its predecessor. The Amaze is now based on an all-new platform and although details about the powertrain are unavailable now, we expect the Amaze to be powered by a new generation of Honda’s tried and tested engines. The Amaze, now, looks rather handsome and Honda’s designers have made great use of the four metres that was available to them. The longer bonnet and a pronounced boot also accentuate the muscular look of the car. Developed at Honda’s R & D facility in Bangkok, Thailand, the Amaze will be available in India in FY 18-19.

The other big announcements were the unveiling of the tenth generation of the Civic and the fifth generation of the CR-V. The Civic, once a popular model in India, was not available in India for the past few years. With this model, Honda sees to change that. With its rather aggressive styling, the Honda Civic has its fair share of fans  internationally. The sharp creases and cuts that chisel the body give the Honda a unique look. The Civic is Honda’s longest running nameplate and is its highest selling model globally.

Once, a king of the urban SUV segment, the CR-V had fallen out of favour  with Indian buyers. The fifth generation CR-V looks to change that. It is now bigger than ever before and for the first time will be available with a diesel engine and with a third row of seats. The rather handsome looking SUV now boasts of LED headlights, taillights and its boxy proportions are more in line with the current demands of SUVs in the segment.

All three cars will be available in FY 18-19.

We will update this story as and when more details are available.
