Lamborghini Huracán Spyder at Frankfurt Motor Show

Team Evo India

Lamborghini has revealed the Huracán Spyder, the drop-top version of the Huracán at the Frankfurt Motor Show 2015. It will be the successor to the Gallardo Spyder. This new Lambo will go against the Ferrari 488 GTS in the global market. The Huracán Spyder comes equipped with a folding soft-top fabric roof and a few other minor tweaks to set it apart from the standard coupé.

The car is powered with the same 607bhp 5.2-litre V10 as its sibling, though here it gets the addition of stop-start technology and cylinder-on-demand technology (deactivate cylinders when not required) to lower emissions. In addition, the four-wheel-drive system has also been tweaked.

In terms of performance, with a time of 3.4 seconds, the Huracán Spyder is 0.2 seconds slower than the coupé in the 0-100kph sprint.

The fabric roof on the Huracán Spyder can be folded in under 17 seconds, according to the manufacturer. The Spyder also gets additional vents above the rear wheels and buttresses behind the headrests to differentiate it from the coupé.

The interior is almost identical to the coupé, except for the addition of an electrically operated screen behind the seats, to reduce wind buffeting inside the cabin when the roof’s down.

In comparison to the Gallardo Spyder, the company claims that the Huracán Spyder is about 40 percent stiffer and about 50 percent more aerodynamic. The Lamborghini Huracán Spyder goes on sale internationally early next year.
