Mercedes-Benz CLA Urban Sport launched

Mercedes-Benz India has extended their portfolio with the launch of the CLA 200 and CLA 200 d Urban Sport. With the launch of these two versions of the CLA, the German luxury carmaker aims to target young customers in the country.

The Urban Sport models will come equipped with a host of new features. These include a dual-zone ‘THERMOTRONIC’ climate control, rear AC vents and ‘Sport’ badging on the floor mats, door sills and the exterior. Moreover, it also gets a new ‘Cosmos Black’ paint option.

Speaking on the launch, Roland Folger, MD & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India said, “The CLA remains a key product in our New Generation Cars portfolio and has created a benchmark for sporty design and performance. The new CLA Urban Sport offers enhanced luxury and comfort and add a sporty appeal that is hard to miss. It is essentially an illustration of dynamic design that seamlessly embodies an intelligent combination of functionality and agility in a modern coupé design. The CLA has been instrumental in conveying Mercedes-Benz’s new design language of sensual purity and has made a place of its own in the hearts and minds of many young patrons and enthusiasts, who tend to arrive in style.”

Mechanically the Mercs remain unchanged. The CLA 200 is powered by a 1991cc four-cylinder petrol engine that makes 181.4bhp at 5500rpm and a healthy 300Nm of torque between 1200-4000rpm. On the other hand, the CLA 200 d is propelled by a four-cylinder 2143cc diesel engine that produces 134bhp from 3400rpm onwards and 300Nm of torque between 1400-3000rpm. The petrol car accelerates from 0-100kmph in 7.1 seconds while the diesel crosses the mark in 9 seconds. Both the variants have claimed top speeds of 240kmph and 220kmph respectively.

The CLA 200, is priced at Rs 35.99 lakh while the CLA 200 d will set you back by Rs. 36.99 lakh.
