Nissan announces bookings for the Kicks

Team Evo India

The Nissan Kicks is slated to be launched early next year and while you wait for the launch, we have some images of the SUV below. Bookings for the Kicks will open on December 14. Deliveries and pricing will be announced in 2019.

The SUV gets LED DRLs, LED projector headlamps, blacked out pillars and an orange coloured roof to give it a floating impression. The ground clearance of the Kicks is 210mm and Nissan claims that ride and handling will be best in class, but we will reserve our comments after the test drive. Lots of development works for the Kicks was done in India and optimised for the Indian customer, says Takashi Hashimoto, chief engineer of the Kicks.

Nissan has adapted ‘Gliding Wing’ design theme for the interiors. You get an 8-inch floating type touch screen infotainment system dominating the centre console, leather inserts, cooled glovebox with illumination, tilt steering with audio controls, rear a/c vents and dual tone interiors.

On the features front, the Kicks is equipped with Bluetooth connectivity, USB ports, voice recognition, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, navigation, soft touch materials for the dashboard and doors. You also get a smart card for keyless entry.

Kicks gets the 1.5 diesel and petrol. Both with manual gearboxes. Autos will follow later (we assume). Safety is also a big priority with 4 airbags, ABS  and EBD. The Kicks will be built off a Duster platform. Nissan says that the Kicks is not a crossover, but a ‘progressive SUV’.
