Pune’s Underground Meetup — a petrolhead's paradise!

Team Evo India

Going to car meetup events is a surefire way for a car geek to meet other geeks and enthusiasts. We went to the Underground Meetup this week. This was the meetup's sixth iteration, and by this point, most of the attendees had become extended family. More than 130 vehicles, including sportscars, supercars, tuned cars, factory designed track weapons, drifters, stuntbikes, superbikes, and even customised racetrucks, were present.

Probably the most beautiful car to have participated at the Underground meetup

The event was organised by Tapaswi Racing at the Pune Kart Drome, which has recently received its due TLC with a fresh coat of tarmac. The Pune Kart Drome will be open to the public from next month.
The VW Polo cup vehicle, which arrived directly from the VW plant, drew our attention, as did Mr. Sirish Vissa, the head of VW Motorsport India.

The factory VW Polo Cup car also graced us with its presence

For the meetup, cars from all over the country came down, including this particular madly customized Lexus GS300 that traveled all the way from the north. Sanam Sekhon mastered it with many drift laps as the crowd applauded him on. He subsequently returned to astonish the audience by balancing a humble Swift on two wheels.

Imagine the level of skill required for this!

While Ferrari Mumbai sent in their Portofino, the gathering was also blessed with a variety of bull gods, ranging from the Aventador to the newest Huracan Evo. Cars varying from the grandfather project Maruti 800 to a Brabus tricked out Mercedes-Benz E 63 pushing out 800 horses were all well received. Audi Pune brought the e-tron and e-tron GT for petrolheads to experience the EV evolution firsthand by inviting them to drive around.

Each automobile has its own character and personality that distinguishes it from the others, which was celebrated at this meetup. Such events foster automotive culture and are a godsend to automotive enthusiasts.
