Kush Maini reflects on his third season of Formula 2 while looking forward to the upcoming season

If you have been following Indian motorsport closely, you will know that Kush Maini’s rise has been one of the most exciting storylines to watch. And while his journey through the FIA Formula 2 Championship has already showcased his determination and pace, his latest move to ART Grand Prix for the 2026 season marks another major milestone in his career.

The 2026 season will be Maini’s fourth in Formula 2, and it comes on the back of a year that tested him in more ways than one. The 2025 season did not unfold the way he had hoped, yet it proved to be pivotal in his development. His breakthrough win at the Monaco Grand Prix was a landmark moment – where he became the first Indian driver to win at the iconic street circuit, and carried that momentum to Abu Dhabi, climbing 13 places in the feature race to close out the season.

Alongside his F2 commitments, Maini has been steadily building his reputation in Formula 1. His continued growth behind the wheel earned him a post-season test with the BWT Alpine F1 Team, and during the session, he impressed the engineers with his performance, strengthening his position within the Alpine programme. Even as he races in Formula 2, Maini will continue his role as a Reserve and Test Driver for the BWT Alpine F1 team

Speaking about the move to ART Grand Prix, Maini shared his excitement, saying, “I’m very happy to be joining such a historic team like ART Grand Prix. My first contacts with the engineers and mechanics have been very positive. I appreciate the determination and the human atmosphere within the team, and I can’t wait to start working with them and see what we can achieve together.” ART Grand Prix team principal Sébastien Philippe added, “Kush has shown real speed and composure in Formula 2, and his win in Monaco is a clear example of what he is capable of. We are happy to welcome him to the ART Grand Prix and look forward to working with him in 2026.”

For Indian motorsport fans, Kush Maini’s progression represents a proud moment, as he continues to represent India in motorsport across the globe.
