The Thrill of Driving Podcast is back and we’re shifting gears!

We took our time! But now The Thrill of Driving Podcast is back and with a new format. No longer are we talking about the news — you can catch that on our website, Instagram and everywhere else you are normally bombarded with news. Our podcast will instead talk about cool things that automotive enthusiasts want to talk about – the stuff of interest to the Indian enthusiast.

In episode #1, Sirish Chandran and Aatish Mishra chronicle the journey of Volkswagen Polo in India. It started even before the Polo was even launched here, with teasers and global press drives followed by a lavish launch in India. Sirish recalls many memories like the first drive of the Polo with the TSI engines on the roads of Sardinia, how pivotal the launch of the 1.6-litre Polo was, clinching the victory in the 1.6-litre category of INRC, and how Volkswagen India brought discipline to the Indian motorsports scene simultaneously bringing motorsports to the masses with the Polo at the forefront.

They also talk about the Polo GT TSI, Volkswagen’s image of being expensive to own, and everything else right up to the BS6 era when it got its latest update with the 1.0 TSI engine ditching the 1.3-litre and along with competitive pricing. They also talk about the possibility of the sixth-gen MQB-based Polo coming to India and the localisation of the VW lineup.
